AUSTRALIAN BUSHFIRE RELIEF EFFORTS

Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the ongoing bushfire emergency in Australia. Over 72,000 square miles of land has burned so far in the recent bushfires. So many homes and lives have already been severely affected well before this year’s fire season peaks.

Esdan Plastics is a division of Tramec Sloan located in Victoria, one of the states hit hard by fires. As you can imagine, everyone at Esdan is seeing the needs of their communities first-hand. Our employees there are tirelessly working at full capacity to increase the production of our fire hose used by the local fire fighters to courageously battle the dangerous bushfires.

Tramec Sloan’s President, Mark Holm, states Tramec Sloan is committed to supporting the Australian communities during this time of need. “Our thoughts are prayers are with those impacted by these fires. We offer our heartfelt thank you to all the emergency workers and volunteers fighting the fires and contributing to the relief efforts,” Holm said.

 HOW WE’RE HELPING

With all this in mind, Tramec Sloan and Esdan have made a combined $25,000 donation to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund. GERF funnels 100% of the funds received directly to the communities who need it most in the Gippsland region of Victoria, the state where our Esdan employees live and work.

Additionally, Esdan Plastics is currently offering FREE local deliveries for fire hose reel purchases used in bushfire efforts.

WINTER WEATHER WOES

It’s important to be mindful of winter maintenance during these months of harsh weather. The tips below will help keep you on the road longer.

 CORROSION
The heavy use of de-icing chemicals this season takes a toll on trucks and equipment. Wash your rig regularly and use anodized parts where possible. Tramec Sloan’s anodized gladhands & valves stand up to these corrosion causing chemicals!

 WINTER WEAR
Take extra care when inspecting rubber components during these fridgid months. Exposure to extreme low temps can cause cracks & leaks. Replace gladhand seals & rubber air lines as soon as you notice damage.

 DROOPING LINES
Sagging air lines can easily collect water and freeze. Don’t leave your hoses unsupported and be sure to drain your air tanks often. In the event of a freeze, the best solution is to park indoors to thaw.
